Summary: The text I read about was about using social media to extend the reach and pull in more audience of a more diverse group of people. Leigh Fazzina did a study on how using social media would effect marketing in a down economy. She hosted an event and allowed all the participants to tweet about the proceedings while they were going on. It was found that after each social media post that their registration had a spike. Some of the attendees weren't even part of the organization being addressed. The results of her study drew more than 240 attendees, 111 tweets, and 10 people who were constantly using Twitter. Some of those tweets were re-tweeted by large social media organizations and were viewed by larger and larger audiences. Fazzina brough a good point to the surface and the dangers of using social media to attract larger audiences. She pointed out that you have to be careful when using social media in that you have to choose and pick your presentations in that if it is unappealing to your audience it can make or break you.

Response: What are the limitations of the spread of social media? My answer would have to be endless. I believe that that the possibilities are without limits there are some instances to where a particular event can have more viewings due to social media than the original views on television. The limitations of viewing televisions or attending events are getting tighter and less frequent with the downfall of the economy but with the emergence of social media it becomes less of a necessity to attend these events. With social media you have read about and even view these events now from your own leisure time and from the comfort of your own home. A question that I would have to ask is how do you aim for pleasing everyone in your audience to obtain the best results?

Usefulness: If we were to study the ways in which we can use social media we can attract the most people and audiences we can to which ever event we desire. By using social media we can attract bigger and more diverse audiences. Social media is making for an easier lifestyle in which we can obtain the most amount of information with little or no effort at all. Social media has endless and limitless possibilties and can be used in a variety of different ways for a number of different events to obtain all the same results. It can spread word across many different countries in mere seconds and spark interest within minutes.
